Updates

Dear Mr. Melchior,
as much as we appreciate your contribution to our getting the word out about the 4100 club event; we would greatly appreciate you removing your "Big Party" event. We would like to keep all of this consolidated in one place.

Thank you!

not a problem.in fact i wish you luck with those owners. They lie and seem like they don't really want to take any advice to be successful. So as far as I am concerned the party and the group will be removed

----------------------------------------
interesting right? anyways, since i never really get a chance to voice my opinions in class; I shall do so here. I think that club 4100 week is a really good idea, and will get a lot of people very interested in our cause throughout the UMBC campus. In addition i also think that security is a good option for the event because the neighborhood isn't the safest and we ARE working in a bar setting where not everyone is of age.

Also i wouldn't mind being on the armband/ticket committee. and literally if anyone feels swamped with work just please dump some of it on me, because i feel as though i am not pulling my weight.

Also, patrick, let me know when you would like my help with your written history.

Street Team

Going out with the street team in our respective groups gave me a new appreciation for what we are doing. The neighborhood around the club has changed immensely, many of the residents believe that it has fallen to complete disarray. In addition to this, I realized how little of a community cohesiveness there is. I hope that this project at least brings people into 4100 club so that they see that there is a place they can go in the neighborhood that may have changed management but is still standing there as a testament of the old ways of the neighborhood. I believe in the end there will be a big turn out to this event despite the fact that we were turned down at many houses. The street team definitely did a good job no matter how little tickets were sold, at least we gave out flyers and got a sense of what the general attitude of the neighborhood was to what we are doing. We met a man who was 97 years old and many other people who have lived in the Brooklyn neighborhood their entire lives. Some of these people were extremely excited to see us do something like this because they know that the neighborhood has a long history, an undocumented history that we will be displaying at this event.
My hope for this is that these people open their minds a little bit more, and that they may actually find hope in this project as a way to unite their community a little more.

Reflection

I'd like to take this oppurtunity prior to heading out with the street team to talk about my contributions. For one the facebook group is being updated, and the most important thing is that I am answering inquiries through my email. The only problem is that a lot of the different components of the event have not been throughly discussed and planned. We need to know exactly who is coming in terms of famous appearances because that is the hook that will make everyone come to this event. I can't exactly answer questions if there are currently no answers for them. This goes for the flyers as well because you can't put anything on the flyers and therefore it is goin to be harder to tell people about the event and make them come to it!
If anyone has any further suggestions for things to add to the facebook I would like to hear them. As well as if any commitee needs help with everything, because I know with the amount of people in this class everyone wants to take on big tasks, I would like to start pulling more weight in terms of work load.

updates

when we receive the flyers i will hand them out at the various orioles games i will attend throughout the season. in addition my contact Juliana Willems works at the gym in College Park as well as the front desk at the RAC and i will request for her to put them on her front desk. We need to post these flyers all throughout campus as well as handing them out at all UMBC sporting events.
In addition I think Melanie has taken care of all the information for the t shirts. I can also pretty much guarantee that many of my sorority sisters will come out for this event in order to raise more money.

I have done a rough facebook event invitation.
I will also be taking part in the street team on April 19th.
